1. How did Desolated get together? Tell us a little bit of the band's history.
Desolated started as a couple of friends from Southampton; however, through the year the lineup has changed multiple times. Every member that has joined desolated has been friends we’ve made through touring, minus a few exceptions.
1. Como é que se formaram os Desolated? Contem-nos um bocado da vossa história.
Os Desolated começaram como um grupo de amigos de Southampton, mas ao longo do ano o lineup mudou algumas vezes. Todos os membros que se juntaram à banda são amigos que fizemos em tour, tirando algumas exceções.
2. As a band, what dreams or goals have you achieved already and which ones are you still looking to achieve?
I think for me personally we’ve managed to tour some really amazing places and play shows all across the world. We have managed to tour more than I can ever really imagine. I can’t imagine much more I’d like to achieve but I’d really like to continue what we are doing and continue to have the opportunity to play shows.
2. Como banda, que sonhos e objetivos já cumpriram e quais esperam cumprir?
Acho que para mim pessoalmente, conseguimos fazer tour em sitios fantásticos e tocar por todo o mundo. Conseguimos estar na estrada por muito mais do que alguma vez imaginei. Não sei de muito mais que possamos alcançar mas gostava muito de continuar com o que estamos a fazer e ter oportunidade de dar concertos.
3. Since the band was formated until now, what were the biggest changes?
I guess alot of lineup changes, a lot of changes within the music. There has been different periods within the bands life where there are noticeable changes within the music.
3. Desde a formação da banda até agora, quais foram as maiores mudanças?
Acho que muitas mudanças no lineup, muitas mudanças na musica. Houveram diferentes periodos na vida da banda onde existiram mudanças notáveis na musica.
4. What was the hardest challenge you had to overcome has a band?
One of the hardest challenges for Desolated was having a consistent lineup. The pressures of being what once was a full time touring band we had to part ways with a lot of members and some could no longer continue because of other endeavour’s taking priority.
4. Qual foi o desafio mais dificil que tiveram de superar como banda?
Um dos maiores desafios para os Desolated foi manter um lineup consistente. A pressão de ser o que foi uma banda em tour a tempo inteiro, tivemos de nos separar de alguns membros e alguns não puderam continuar por causa de outras prioridades.
5. Since "The Sixth Day" EP your artwork have been design by Chris Panatier in his unique style. Do you think that his work has, in anyway became part of the identity of Desolated?
Yes 100%. His style is so unusual for a band like Desolated but know it is something that everyone associates us with.
5. Desde o EP “The Sixth Day” a vossa artwork têm sido desenhada por Chris Panatier no seu estilo único. Acham que o seu trabalho tornou-se, de alguma forma, parte da identidade de Desolated?
Sim 100%. O estilo dele é tão invulgar para uma banda como Desolated mas é algo que todos associam a nós.
6. Does being from Southampton has any influence on your music? Do you think your hometown has any influence on what you do?
I wish I said it does, but sadly it has absolutely no influence at all.
6. Ser de Southampton têm alguma influência na vossa musica? Acham que a vossa terra natal têm alguma influência no que fazem?
Quem me dera poder dizer que sim, mas infelizmente não influencia de forma nenhuma.
7. How do you compare the English hardcore scene to the scene in general? Is there any difference?
I feel like a lot of places have very similar hardcore scenes, the place that I would say is notably different is America. Hardcore kids in America feel very invested it feels almost like a lifestyle over there.
7. Como comparam a scene hardcore inglesa com a scene em geral? Existe alguma diferença?
Eu acho que muitos sitios têm scenes semelhantes, o sitio que eu diria ser notávelmente diferente é a América. Os miúdos hardcore lá são muito investidos, quase parece um estilo de vida.
8. Have you ever been in Portugal? Despite the answer, what are your thoughts about the country and its underground scene?
We played there once on a tour, I thought it was a really beautiful place and loved the culture, the tour was kind of strange but I think we were supporting a metalcore band and it wasn’t all that suited.
8. Alguma vez estiveram em Portugal? Independentemente da resposta, qual é a vossa opinião sobre o pais e a sua scene underground?
Nós tocámos ai uma vez em tour, eu achei um sitio realmente bonito e adorei a cultura. A tour foi um bocado estranha mas acho que estavamos a apoiar uma banda de metalcore e não foi tão adequado.
9. What does the future has planned for Desolated?
Right now we’re all a bit stunted, not just Desolated, everyone right now, the future is so uncertain. Our plans are defiantly shifting towards releasing a new record.
9. O que é que o futuro reserva para os Desolated?
Por agora estamos todos um bocado atrofiados, não só Desolated, mas todos, o futuro é tão incerto. Os nossos planos vão desafiadoramente mudando para lançarmos um novo albúm.
